Traffic safety slogan
"Cyclists have a right to the road too, you noisy, polluting, inconsiderate maniacs! I hope gas goes up to eight bucks a gallon!" -- Calvin's dad in the 28 April 1993 entry of the U-Comics Calvin and Hobbes archives.
My sentiments exactly.

Fairwell to the roundabouts
The San Francisco DPT has decided to remove the traffic circles in the Haight, which it installed on a trial basis last year. It's a shame, but this had to happen. Though the benefits of traffic circles are well known, these particular circles failed because they were poorly implemented. They were too small, too transparent -- fundamentally missing the point by actually encouraging vehicle traffic to flow through the intersections too fast. Why couldn't we have installed something more like the fine traffic circles in Portland and elsewhere?

Good news for people!
Parts of the new album from Modest Mouse, Good News For People Who Love Bad News, sound like what parts of the film Big Fish look like. Amazing, how some artists can sculpt a sound that way.
