Little brother on the way

YIP ~ Day 58
It’s a boy! (In case I hadn’t mentioned that yet.)

We were going to be surprised this time around. We found out the sex with Sophia, but this time we thought it might be fun to wait till the baby arrived. Well, that’s all fine. But big sister thought she was getting a little sister. And no amount of explaining “But maybe this baby is a boy, sweetie” or “Say good morning to baby brother/sister” was going to make this process make sense to a 2-year-old.

So to the ultrasound clinic we went again, this time ready to study in greater detail that little gray being squirming around in there. And soon we knew that mama would be packing away the flowers and pink this time around.

But Sophia was not phased. I simply asked her if she’d like a little brother instead. “OK!” she said. Easy as that. Whew.

The photo above is from my attempt last night to capture this big ol’ belly in it’s final stages. I’ve always been a fan of those baby blocks pregnant belly pictures. And even though they are totally cliché, I thought it would be fun to have one when I was big and round (which, if you haven’t noticed, I am quite a bit of both right now).

So, here we go — the countdown begins!

Cute picture! I’ve never seen the baby block thing, so to me you’re just an innovator, not cliché at all. :) Congratulations on the boy! I’ve enjoyed have two little girls, so that would have been fun too. It will be interesting to see what changes a boy brings. My third trimester officially started yesterday, so I’m feeling like the countdown is starting here too. Take care! It’s fun to be having little boys so close together, even though we never see each other!

Awesome! It is so different having a boy… I’m sure you will love it. :) Great picture too!

By the way, you have to change your title to Life as a THIRTYsomething Mom!

Thanks, you guys! Jennifer, believe me I know! I’ve been asking Chris (my loving in house graphic designer) for A YEAR to make that change and he keeps saying he’ll get to it.

Beautiful photo! Your belly is stunning. I can’t wait to love up that little boy at the end of the month. We are all so thrilled for this new arrival. XOXO
