Who needs a spoonful of sugar?

Medicine! I think it’s safe to say that Sophia LOVES medicine. I have had to point out to her on numerous occasions that, contrary to what her taste buds are telling her, the liquid she is swallowing is not, in fact, candy. To her, the prescription she is on right now for her ear infection (or even just regular ol’ baby Tylenol, for that matter) tastes like sweet nectar. She begs for it all day, impatiently waiting for her twice daily dosage. “Meh-asin, meh-asin!” she whimpers longingly for her next fix.

I understand that children’s medicine needs to be palatable so kids learn to swallow it. But I don’t remember my medicine tasting like melted Slurpees when I was little. I never imagined before becoming a parent that my daughter would one day impatiently await her next blissful spoonful like it was, literally, sugar.

[…] Blogged at Girl’s Life. The girl seriously loves her some medicine. […]

I think our girls are pretty much interchangable. This happened to me last month… all I heard was ‘med… med’!
And now when I give her kids vitamins (in the shape of dinosaurs), she says ‘SAURS SAURS!’.

Oh no - I hadn’t even thought of vitamins! Those taste good, too. I’m glad they like taking meds, but how do we convince them they’re not candy?? ;)

Hilarious pic! But there IS definitely something wrong about tasty meds. They were horrible when we were kids! It was so bad that I still won’t touch grape flavored candy because I associate the taste with cough medicine.

Oh man, I agree–the grape was the WORST!
