Family Bonding on a Saturday morning

Chris brought Sophia into bed with us when she woke up way too early on this fine Saturday morning. Baby bongos on my forehead at 6:00 a.m. is just not the way I had foreseen the beginning of a leisurely weekend morning. But of course, in true Sophia fashion, she more than made up for the early morning wake-up call by dog-piling us both with hugs and kisses.

Then, as she beamed happily at us, she said with her coy smile, “Mommy. Daddy. Sophie . . . Fammy!” Insert dramatic and contented toddler sigh, followed by a big floppy hug.

My heart, tired as it was, nearly exploded with love for my little “fammy”. Until, that is, she shoved her little finger in my eye and kneed daddy in crotch. The misty, rose-colored haze gone in the blink of an eye. I so love that kid.
