I’ve been tagged by Amanda, and I am up for the challenge!

I’m not one to usually talk a ton about myself. I don’t know — I guess you could say that I’m private (she says, as she posts this for anyone in the world to read). But yes, I am relatively private and yes, I usually just post little day-in-the-life parenting tidbits. But, well, that doesn’t always feel completely honest. I promise, I’m not always happy and out exploring the world with my adorable daughter, as my blog might suggest.

I’ve had several people who read my blog ask me how I do all the things I do. Well, here is how (lean in for the big secret): I pretty much only write about the fun stuff! And I pretty much only write about my daughter because I find her insanely interesting to talk about and, for that matter, insanely cute. (Do you honestly want to read about me sitting at work all day writing meeting minutes and creating Powerpoint presentations? Or read about my exciting new route home that shaves 5 minutes off my commute? Yeah, me neither.)

But I will, in the future, try to present more of a picture of me. Not just as mom to Sophia, but as that chick Amy who is into photography and hummus and NPR and horribly cheesy girly movies and TV shows with a narrator.

OK, enough rambling. Onto my 3 Things…

3 Things that scare me:

• Sophia being harmed in any way
• All creepy movies and TV shows (My husband is watching The Shining right now, so yeah, I just moved away from the window)
• Mr. Noodle on Sesame Street. Seriously, that guy is all kinds of crazy.

3 People who make me laugh:

• Chris
• Sophia
• My crazy brothers

3 Things I love:

• My fam
• Writing
• Photography

3 Things I hate:

• Watching TV live — what did we do before Tivo?
• Crappy drivers while I’m in traffic. Actually, just traffic in general.
• War

3 Things I don’t understand:

• Where the heck LOST is going this season. Seriously ABC, “the Others” plot line just keeps getting weirder, yo.
• Why it was 85 degrees last week at the end of November
• When Chris talks to me in geek speak

3 Things on my desk:

• Lots of photos
• A computer
• Brochures and catalogs about art and design

3 Things I’m doing right now:

• Blogging
• Trying to ignore The Shining
• Shivering (that’s what happens in Southern California when the temp dips below 65 degrees)

3 Things I want to do before I die:

• Grow old with Chris
• Fill up my passport with stamps
• Live at the beach again

3 Things I can do:

• Convince people to do stuff — it’s a very weird gift I have
• Whistle loudly with my fingers (you never realize what an important skill that is until you work for two summers as a camp counselor)
• Speak with authority about the many smells and consistencies of toddler poop

3 Things I can’t do:

• Watch Oprah without crying — becoming a mom has made me sap-tastic
• Play the guitar…yet
• Get anywhere on time

3 Things I think you should listen to:

• Call me archaic, but I am still really into the Garden State soundtrack.
  
• Lovin’ me some Joshua Radin right now.
• I hear Aimee Mann has a new Christmas CD out right now, so I think we should all go listen.

3 Things you should never listen to:

• Hmm…I really don’t know. I mean, there is a lot of bad music out there, but who am I to tell you not to listen to it? I don’t always have the greatest tastes. And you are more than entitled to a few guilty pleasures of your own.

3 Things I’d like to learn:

• To speak French
• To cook better (or, at all)
• To translate Sophia’s language (Seriously, what does oog-doog-deeg-doo mean?)

3 Favorite foods:

• In-N-Out
