1, 2, 3…
…4! That’s how many steps my TODDLER took today!
Sophia took her first steps this afternoon when I got home from work. (Isn’t that sweet that she waited for me to get home so Grandma didn’t have to lie and say that nothing eventful happened today?)
I’ve been practicing the whole walking thing with Sophia a lot lately, leading her around the house by her hands while she stumbled along on tip-toe, trying to keep up. This afternoon I thought I’d let go of her hands — take off the training wheels — and see what happened. She protested at first, of course. But then in her own independent Sophia way, she took off.
One step. Two. Three. Stumble a little. Four.
This opens up a whole new world. I’m so excited for her. Although, I have to admit that I’m not as excited for me. Trying to keep up with her crawling was one thing. A running toddler? That’s something else altogether.
Watching her take those steps made me so proud. Like I really did help her learn something essential. Like I’m helping her learn how to get along in the world.
Now if we could just concentrate on getting some teeth. (Yes, 12 months and still none!)

Hehehe. That’s awesome. But, yes, good luck keeping up with her now!
