So little time, so many excuses
You might have noticed that posting has been a little light lately. And for that I have many good reasons. I know, I know…those bloggers who complain about not having enough time to post are so annoying, right? Yeah, well hear me out. I have SO many good excuses for not posting more this week that I know you’ll forgive me after you hear them.
1. OK, for one — it’s summer! There are beaches to visit and ice cream to eat and, well, it’s too hot to do much of anything these days.

2. I’ve been feel very uncreative and uninspired lately. I’m sure it has to do with coming back from vacation a couple weeks ago and having to jump back into the realities of life. But I hate that feeling. Feeling uncreative is one of the worst things in the world for me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m always inspired by my beautiful and enchanting baby, but sometimes I get in those “observing” modes and forget (or just don’t want) to write about it. Sometimes I like to have my private moments of just watching her grow up. Oh, and baby hasn’t reached any new milestones in awhile, so I feel like I’m just writing about the same old crawling, same old cute toothless grin, same old love-fest between baby and dog.

3. Two words: summer reading. Yes, I’m a bit of a fanatic when it comes to reading. And I’m thankful for my awesome book club — my eclectic and inspiring group of friends from college who thankfully all live nearby. We’ve been doing this book club for years now, and it’s sort of becoming an excuse to get together to eat good food, drink good wine and have great conversations. Unfortunately, the books are much less important now and reading the book of the month is definitely not a prerequisite to showing up. Added to that, since I’ve had a baby my reading has mainly consisted of cheesy parenting magazines or anything within arms reach that has words on it and can keep my mind occupied during my captive minutes (or hours) of breastfeeding. This usually consists of the ingredients list on baby lotion bottles, my husband’s javascript manuals (yeah, good times, I know) and Sandra Boynton books (Cute, yes. Mentally stimulating, no.) So, I dusted off my old reading list of books I’ve been meaning to get to, recently finishing The Secret Life of Bees, by Sue Monk Kid and currently working on Cash, by Johnny Cash. Great autobiography, by the way.

4. Chris is crazy busy with a series of huge projects for work all culminating in one insane deadline that is quickly approaching. This means that nearly every second of his day is spent on the computer. This is all fine except that his desktop computer, where he does the majority of his work, is in the baby’s room. So when she goes down for the night, he has been needing to continue working on the laptop without skipping a beat. So my evening blog time has been a little non-existent lately.
So there they are, all my excuses. Enough excuses though. Real content is coming soon, I promise.
