10 months and counting…

The Taste of Summer Happy 10 month birthday, Sophia!

Is it really only two months until the big day? I can hardly believe it. I know I say it every month, but this month has flown by, and again, it’s been my favorite! You are so full of personality, which means you’ve got GREAT moods and CRAZY moods and downright DIVA moods. And I love them all. Well, most of the time. I’d trade the mealtime tantrums for more of the good moods, but those aren’t showing up as often these days.

You got to experience a lot of cool stuff this past month. We took you in the wading pool to cool off because we are still trying to find someone with a pool to mooch off of (Anyone with a pool reading this? Seriously, we can be there in 5 minutes — just let me go grab my suit!) You were so not pleased with the pool thing at first, but since then we’ve gone a couple more times, and now you’re a water-pruned pro.

You got your first haircut, too. Your long emo bangs were just getting to be too much for me. I thought you were too young to start listening to Deathcab and writing angst-filled poetry on LiveJournal, so I cut them. But, alas, you moved your squirmy little head and, well, your bangs are now what some would call short — pixie short (see photo above). And even though your Aunt Sissy, a beautician, would rather I keep my hands off the scissors, daddy and I have decided we really like it, and I think the Amelie look is going to stay for a while.

You’re clapping your hands about everything now, too. Mommy’s home!! Yay!! Daddy’s playing video games!! Yay!! I ripped up the mail!! Yay!! Even the most menial of things warrants applause in our house these days. It makes everything So! Much! More! Exciting!

Swimming with friends
You’ve started having real play dates, too. We’re so thankful that some of your little friends are within just a couple months of your age, so we have someone to play with! We’re also beginning to learn the hard lesson about sharing. Actually, you’re doing pretty well there — you’d rather play by yourself when you’re with friends at this point because you’re not used to being around other minis yet. Mommy’s working on that though. I want you to get to know your friends better!

Sophia, you are a doll and an absolute joy to hang out with. If given the choice of all the babies in the world, I would have chosen you to be my girl. So, I’m so glad we got stuck together. Love you, sweetie!
