Summertime Swimming

Love to swim! We took Sophia “swimming” this weekend for the first time. And by swimming, I mean that we plopped her in the kiddie pool that our neighbors just bought and watched her splash. Actually, we watched her scream at first. (Apparently hose water is REALLY cold! Don’t let this first picture deceive you into thinking it was all fun and games. See below.) But after a 3-hour nap, the water had some time to warm up and Sophia had enough time to realize how hot she was lying there sweating in our house. So off we went to try again, which was much more enjoyable the second time.

Here are some photos of our first attempt at swimming!

First attempt at swimming
“Daddy, it’s really, really cold in here!”

Really mad about the cold water
“Seriously, dad. Why would you guys do this to me? Out now!”

So I just sit here and splash?
Second try with warmer water equals better results! Here she is getting used to the water and starting to splash a bit.

Getting squirt by Nemo
Mommy gets in, clothes and all, to join in the fun and squirts Sophia with her water toys.

Fart sounds!
But baby has her own plan for having fun, which is the plastic-toys-make-great-fart-sounds game (patent-pending).
She spends the next 15 minutes “farting” against the side of the pool.

Peek-a-boo
It’s still a little cold, so some snuggling ensues. (Note Sophia sneaking in a side-of-the-pool fart. Goofball!)

Favorite. Picture. Ever.
Overall, this kid was pleased with the whole experience. Cold and all. (And I could just eat those arm rolls!)

Seriously, mom. About the hat.
Although, she wasn’t so sure about the after-swim hat. Done swimming and ready to sunbathe? No way! We’ve gotta cover up from the crazy UV rays so this girl might actually have a small chance of not being as insanely freckly as her mom and dad. Good luck with that!
