The Beginning of Summer
This holiday weekend for me marked the official beginning of summer — graduation parties, trips to the park, sleeping in and lounging around (yes, even with a baby it happens from time to time.). I love this time of year. It’s beginning to warm up, but it’s not too hot yet. Not quite the dog days of summer. I’m still not on speaking terms with the month of August. You should have seen what the heat of that friggin’ month did to my ankles when I was 9 months pregnant. August — I shake my fist at you!
So during some of our family play time this weekend, we took Sophia for her first ride on the swings with mommy and daddy (she’s been with Grandma, but if I haven’t seen it happen, it doesn’t count.) Man, does that girl looooove to swing. Who can blame her? There’s nothing more freeing than swinging as high as you can go. I got a little reminiscent of summertime as a kid — the hours and hours on our bikes, sleeping over at friends’ houses, toilet papering, having my hair turn green from the amount of time I spent in chlorinated water. Oh, to be a kid again in the summer! That’s why I was so excited to take Sophia to the park. It’s just the beginning of a childhood of fun summer memories I hope she makes.
Here are some more fun pictures from the weekend.
Sophia’s not so sure about the slide by herself.
But the slide with daddy? Well, that’s a risk she’ll willing to take.
We had fun at my brother Steve’s graduation party. There was so much food. But Sophia was only interested in eating Grandma!

Lots of hanging out in the grass on the blanket this weekend with my two favorite little creatures. Lots of kisses all around, too.
Sometimes a girl’s just gotta strike a pose.
Bye for now, all! We’ve got some more parks to find and summer memories to make…
