Winning cool stuff!

I was reading Cool Mom Picks yesterday, a great blog that touts itselft as “just a few moms that track down cool stuff so you can stay busy being fabulous.” I can get behind that. I love the busyness of being fabulous. Anyway, the post that I came across was a review of Allison Friedland’s Uncommonly Cute — “hip and cool baby clothes for the trendy and hip baby in your life!”

And I thought, wait a minute. I have an incredibly hip and cool baby. And wouldn’t she instantly become that much hipper and cooler with the aid of some of these trendy onesies? But alas, our budget these days does not allow for frivolous expenditures. Even, sadly, when it comes to the Daughter.

Rock Star babySo lucky for me I read the Cool Mom Picks post in time because they were doing a giveaway. I just had to email them by 8pm and say GIMMIEGIMMIE and they’d pick a winner at random to receive a free onesie from Uncommonly Cute. I can do that. I grew up the youngest in a family of four kids. I know GIMMIE well. So I did it. And guess what? Today I heard back from the fine folks at CMP saying I won! And this is the onesie I picked for my little rocker (shown in its t-shirt form here). Two words: chick drummer. Uh huh.

Wasn’t it just last year I won those free Erasure concert tickets for my husband? Now I definitely can’t say I never win anything. I seem to be pretty darn lucky these days. Free stuff rules! Especially cool free stuff.

From Uncommonly Cute’s website: “We know cool stuff doesn’t make the mom, but it certainly helps make life a little better.” Amen, sister!

This website is darling! See we honestly need to come up with something like this, we can do it for mommies on a budget like us… I’m sure you can think of a cute name! I know I’ve mentioned this to you before, but I have so many outlets that we could turn to if we’re really interested in doing something involving baby gidgets/gadgets and clothes; it’s such a big market right now… anything so we can eventually be at home with our girls!

Yeah, i haven’t been keeping up with your blog recently… I suck. But hey, i saw the exact same review! It reminded me of this store in Silverlake (can’t remember the name now) and all these bumper stickers that say: “Rocker Mom, not Soccer Mom” (although I can say you’re both!)

Sophia is going to be the COOLEST CHICK this side of Sunset and Virgil. Rock on, my girl!

(And i’m STILL jealous that you and Chris got to see Erasure.)

Mo - Do you think you can find me a bumper sticker that says: “Rocker Mom AND Soccer Mom”?? LOL

Also, you’ve already seen Erasure more times than the non-gay should be allowed to.

I have to agree that those shirts are really cute, but ridiculously priced. You may already know this but www.thinkgeek.com has some really cute/hilarious kids shirts that promote the geek side of our family. My daughter, Emily loves to wear her v2.0 shirt when her daddy has on his v1.0. They aren’t cheap per say, but I can justify spending $12 on a special occasion when $21 makes me cringe.

Oh yeah, I agree. I would never actually buy one of these shirts! Especially since Sophia has about a million onesies. I can’t justify spending that amount of money on one little clothing item that she’s just going to outgrow in 5 minutes (seriously, the kid grows FAST!).

I will definitely have to check out thinkgeek. Hadn’t thought about that site for baby clothes!

[…] Kate calls her stationery products “interactive,” which in my house means “put the kid to work!” Her Color ‘n Kids cards are totally adorable. Their simplicity is what I like most. They’re just black and white drawings of childhood staples — birthday cakes, butterflies, aliens — with traceable greetings just waiting to be colored in. You might remember when Sophia won her awesome rock star shirt from a Cool Mom Picks giveaway last year. Well, we lucked out on a contest again and a whole wagon-load of art supplies arrived at our door last week full of crayons, paints, markers and tons of empty white cards just waiting to be created into individual masterpieces. (Thanks, Kate!) […]
