8 months and counting…
Happy 8 month birthday, Sophia!
Wow, the time has been flying. You’re becoming more of a kid and less of a baby every day. And instead of being too sentimental about it, I’m actually enjoying every minute of it. Despite your new sense of independence these days, you still have some of your adorable “baby” qualities. Like all of a sudden this week, at 8 months old, you wanted us to start swaddling you again to go to sleep. They don’t make receiving blankets that big, girl. We’ve had to upgrade to a full blown quilt.
You can roll yourself right off my lap and get yourself wherever you want to be in the living room just by sheer determination. It’s pretty amazing to watch you move around. You haven’t exactly mastered crawling yet, but you’re on your way. You still do that scooting/rolling/pulling method of transportation. It seems to be working just fine for you, although I can see in your eyes how much you want to crawl, you just can’t be bothered with stopping anything long enough to take the time to learn. You’ve got things to do.
Also, you’ve entered into the full-blown infatuation stage with the dog. You LOOOOOVE her. It’s not hard to understand, her being the best friend a baby could have and all. But seriously, when you eat, I wish you could love the dog a little less. Sarah has begun stationing herself in prime location during mealtimes, the space under your chair. That’s where all the good food seems to be going these days, and that dog ain’t dumb. But with you not ever wanting to take your eyes off the dog, it’s almost impossible to feed you with your neck craned as far under your chair as it can go. I think you keeping your eye on the dog might have a little something to do with all her sneak attacks, where she has often been known to surprise you with a face full of wet kisses. You’re on your guard now. And I can’t say that I blame you. I, too, have been ambushed more times that I can count.
And you’re getting insanely cute, too. I know every parent says it. Their kid is the cutest kid ever born. And they try to say it so unbiasedly. Like if they were talent scouts, they would choose their kid to be in the diaper commercials. Well, I understand those parents now. You are the cutest kid ever born.
So far, you’re turning out great, despite this new very deep attachment to your pacifier, but I’m putting off dealing with that for another month. I’m still having so much fun getting to know you and the little person you’re becoming. We’re so close to one year!

Holy Crap, Batman! She IS cute!
Incredibly cute.
Nice work, you two.
